Outcome of CAUL OER Collective grants for Federation staff.
Posted: Thursday 19 June 2025Congratulations to Liam (Leigh) Frost-Camilleri who has been awarded a grant from the CAUL OER collective. The ‘wildcard’ grant will be used to improve the accessibility of his openly licenced book, The Art of Re-Learning: A Guide to Academic Readiness, published earlier this year through the collective. Research and learning from this project will be shared with the Collective to contribute to broader capability building.
The book is designed to guide enabling and first year students in their transition to university, with key skills such as cultivating resilience, anxiety management, and fostering self-efficacy.
The grant will help expand the book’s accessibility through an audio recording of the book read by the author (which is already underway), researching and implementing best practice on learning design for neurodivergent students, the creation of visual aides to break up the text and the inclusion of case studies to further enhance the usability of this resource.
The Art of Re-Learning has had almost 2500 visitors since its publication in early March and is an important text used for our very own FAST students to support their successful transition into Higher Education.
Also, Michael Olasoji is named as one of 12 authors for the La Trobe University published Mental Health Essentials: Transitioning from Student to Practitioner, which was the winner of the Collaborate grant.
Well done, Leigh and Michael!
