Calling for Open Textbook author/s

Posted: Friday 7 June 2024

Do you have an idea for an Open Textbook?

Not sure where to start? Ready to dive in?

Federation Library is seeking academic author/s to publish an Open Textbook with us through the CAUL OER Collective on the Pressbooks platform. For examples view the catalogue of output for the project and the first published  Federation title.

About the Collective

The project is designed to walk academic authors and librarians on the path of an open textbook project, offering training, a Community of Practice for academic authors and assistance along the way to publication under a Creative Commons licence.

The textbook could be a revision of an existing Open Education Resource modified for your cohort or a brand new text. The publishing workflow is illustrated here.

Benefits of open textbooks include:

  • zero cost textbooks for your students
  • equity of access to knowledge
  • supported publishing model with peer review
