Historical Collection
Federation University has an extensive collection of 30,000 historical items dating from the establishment of the Ballarat School of Mines in 1869. Over 10,000 items in the collection are currently catalogued online and harvested by TROVE. A selection of these can be searched digitally via the Library catalogue.
Accessing the collection
The historical collections are housed at the Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre (GBRC) in Mt Helen Campus Library and in an offsite store. Items from the Historical Collection cannot be borrowed from the Library and must be used within the GBRC Reading Room.
Visitors are welcome to access the collection during opening hours or by appointment.
