Biography

Liam Frost-Camilleri is a Lecturer in the Foundation Access Studies (FAST) program and the Master of Teaching at Federation University Australia. An early career researcher, Liam’s research interests include vocational education and training, educational equity, and neurodivergence in tertiary institutions. Liam is the recipient of the 2024 NAEEA National Excellence in Teaching for his work in enabling education.

Liam has presented at various conferences including for the National Centre for Vocational Education Research, Australian Vocational Education and Training Research Association, Australian Council of Deans of Education Vocational Education Group and the Skills Highway Forum in New Zealand.

Liam has worked as a secondary school teacher (both private and public), primary school teacher, TAFE instructor and in higher education for over 15 years. He is currently completing his PhD studies in second chance education and student re-engagement.

Areas of expertise

    (1) Equity in education

    Liam research into equity in education spans from looking at neurodivergence in Higher Education, and alternative programs in secondary schools (namely, VCE VM and VPC). Liam has presented his findings at various conferences including AVETRA, ACDEBEG, NCVER and VALBEC.

    (2) Teaching

    Liam was awarded the 2024 NAEEA National Excellence in Teaching award, and the 2024 VC Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning for his work in enabling education. A passionate educator, Liam uses his research interests to help inform his teaching practice.
