What we mean when we say “My accent is my superpower”
Every person in the world has an accent. It represents where you have lived and what has influenced you, and is part of your individual identity.
Unfortunately, accent is not always a superpower. It can be a barrier to communication and connection when we consider factors like circumstance, timing, and the ability of the listener to hear language through accents.
My accent is my superpower is a statement that celebrates the diversity of each individual.
By naming this series ‘My accent is my superpower’ it is our hope to raise awareness about embracing and celebrating diversity, positively impacting the space where international students and Australian employers can meet each other’s needs, and experience success together.
