Alumna wins prestigious art prize
Master of Arts graduate, Michelle Zuccolo, was recently awarded the Rick Amor Self Portrait Prize 2019 with her self portrait 'Augury'. Michelle's work was selected from a record number of over 250 entries submitted from across Australia and overseas.
The prize of $20,000 (non-acquisitive) was awarded by judge Prudence Flint at the finalist's exhibition launch at Montsalvat on 14 November. The exhibition was launched by Australian lawyer, author, human rights and refugee advocate Julian Burnside QC AO and will run to 26 January 2020
Prudence Flint says of Michelle's work, “Michelle Zuccolo’s Augury has a striking delicacy in regard to its narrative, rendering of ‘self’ and it’s painterly space. The profile offers the viewer room to swing and move and think about the implied tensions and intensities throughout the work”.
