Biography
Dr Maryam Ghasemi is a nursing lecturer with seven years of experience at Federation University, teaching undergraduate clinical units and postgraduate Master of Health units.
Maryam brings 18 years of cardiovascular nursing practice to her teaching, ensuring clinical relevance and real-life applicability. Her pedagogy centres on Constructive Alignments, aligning learning objectives with authentic assessments. She consistently develops, coordinates and delivers inclusive, accessible learning experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students, with a focus on fostering a sense of belonging and supporting students with disabilities.
Maryam's teaching spans lectures, tutorials, practical and laboratory sessions, demonstrations, workshops and clinical experiences to strengthen organisational and coordination capabilities. By integrating theory with hands-on practices like flipped classrooms, Capstone projects, simulated case studies and POGIL, she helps students translate concepts into competent clinical performance while fostering critical thinking, reflective practice, and evidence-based decision-making.
She ensures learning experiences are accessible, engaging and aligned with program learning outcomes, adapting delivery to diverse learner needs. A scholarly approach to teaching and learning underpins her practice; she contributes to disciplinary pedagogy and research by investigating effective teaching strategies, assessment methods and student learning processes.
