Heather Ernst lectures in mathematics and science education at Federation University Australia’s Gippsland and Berwick campuses, and online. Heather’s areas of expertise include mathematics and numeracy, assessment for learning, curriculum alignment and higher-order thinking.
Heather is currently working towards a PhD on the topic of developing thinking in senior secondary mathematics. Heather has taught both mathematics and science teacher education courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Before joining Federation University in 2014, Heather taught in government schools for 25 years in a variety of year levels and roles. She completed her Masters of Numeracy at Melbourne University in 2013, undertaking an action research project on formative assessment in senior secondary mathematics.
