Biography

Dr Ander Guinea is a Lecturer in geology at Federation University Australia. Dr Guinea’s research background is in geophysical methods and hydrogeology, with major expertise in the application of resistivity and electromagnetic geophysical techniques to the characterisation of groundwater systems and mineral deposits.

Ander’s publication record includes studies of mineral resources, describing the hydrological processes of an area, environmental assessments of old closed landfills, determination of salinity of groundwater, and detection of salt wedge in coastal aquifers. Ander has also an interest in volcanic processes and is currently working on a project addressing hydrological processes during phreatomagmatic eruptions.

Ander completed his undergraduate, masters and PhD studies in Spain and he still collaborates in projects in that country. He moved to Australia in 2012 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of New South Wales before joining Federation University at the Ballarat campus in 2014.
