Ballarat Arts Foundation Eureka Art Award 2016

Now as a biennial, acquisitive Award, the Foundation provides a unique opportunity for their alumni visual artists, to exhibit alongside their peers in an important exhibition and receive the prestigious Ballarat Art Foundation’s $2,500 Eureka Art Award or to be voted the $500 People’s Choice Award winner for 2016. DAVID FERRY: THE INVADER’S GUIDE TO THE BRITISH ISLES

Providing a survey of David Ferry’s continued visual exploration of guides to British Heritage, this exhibition features work from series that span twenty-five years. The picture books, found in charity shops, are first subjected to simple cut and paste tampering; this is then refined through printmaking processes both traditional and digital. Resultant artist books and prints demonstrate a consistency of address that pokes fun at the polite and confident assertions of the conservative viewpoint. Michelle Zuccolo: From Flesh and Bone

In a new series of works and exhibition, following a recent International Fellowship in Italy and Austria researching classical and medieval art forms, Zuccolo presents a suite of intriguing drawings. Here she depicts people in situ - nuns and artists in the course of daily life preoccupied in thought, navigating complex spaces, juxtaposed with other mixed-media works portraying puppets from the ‘Punch and Judy’ series of a strange, satirical and whimsical nature. VIN RYAN: SIGNS OF STRUGGLE
