Biography

Teresa began her dance training in Gippsland at the age of five, studying classical (A. T. O. D.), jazz and tap. She holds a Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management from Box Hill Institute, and has studied full time performing arts at Dance Factory in Richmond, adding contemporary and funk to her repertoire. Teresa began teaching in the Latrobe Valley in 2001, instructing classes in jazz, tap, classical ballet and contemporary. Over 12 years she taught for various studios in the area, whilst continuing her professional practice with local and international industry professionals. Teresa was co-founder and director of Gippsland Academy of Dance.

In 2013 she joined the Arts Academy, Federation University Ballarat, as a sessional lecturer in tap and jazz and remained in this role until her full-time appointment in August 2015. Teresa commenced a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science in 2014. She continues to explore areas of dance science through research, affiliation with the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science, and professional development training with Melbourne based physiotherapy & Pilates practitioners in dance-specific anatomy.

As the full time Lecturer in Dance, Teresa’s choreographic credits for Federation University include The Pajama Game (2015), Bye Bye Birdie (2016), My Favorite Year (2017), Ladies in Black (2019) with the second year Music Theatre companies; A Chorus Line (online 2020) and Showcase (2018 & 2019) with the third year Music Theatre companies.
