Biography

Jane is a physiotherapist working in the Institute of Health and Wellbeing Physiotherapy department.  Jane joined Federation University Australia in 2021 at the initiation of the degree being taught in Gippsland. Starting initially as teaching staff for anatomy and physiology, she moved into the clinical education role in 2022. Prior to this Jane has worked in public health and private practice as a titled Continence and pelvic health physiotherapist.

Areas of expertise

Janes work is predominantly in clinical education, securing and supporting placements for undergraduate students, then supporting the students learning in these alternate environments.

Her clinical area of expertise is pelvic health. Including incontinence and prolapse management in women, plus incontinence in male and paediatric populations also.  She has provided care for regional, rural and remote populations to provided well needed cover for Gippsland.

Research interests

Janes research interest lies in the area of pelvic health and its impact on engagement within society.

Current research: Adolescent Females within organised sport.

Janes research into menarche as factor impacting adherence to competition and training examines how managing your period in early adolescence impacts participation in sport. Which factors are found to be the hardest to manage and if this relates to dropout rates in exercising teenagers.

Supervision

Current research: Menopausal women adherence to exercise

Jane is a supervisor of honours research looking into factors influencing adherence to exercises in regional women going through menopause.
