Strategy > Delivery - Year 1 > Program viability
Program viability
Our regional employers are in desperate need of skilled employees. But the nature of the graduates they want from TAFE to PhD has changed over time and with new technology.
The Program and Course Viability Review frees up academic capacity for Program Renewal and establishes a robust process for ongoing review and suspension of programs and courses.
Our regional employers fully support our strategic plan and the concept of integrating work and study, which is a key focus of our program renewal.
This means there will be many more opportunities for students to learn in the workplace and for us to establish a platform to provide multidisciplinary groups of students for work-based projects to SMEs.
As we know, many of our students live and work in regional areas that are too far from our campuses to attend.
While we will stop doing the programs and courses that are no longer in demand, we’ll be re-imagining and co-creating, with employers and students, the programs and courses that we can deliver in workplaces and study hubs across our region using digital technologies, connected classrooms and the intensive practical learning we developed through COVID-19.
This will drive long-term economic growth, jobs and sustainable communities in our regions.
It’s also an exciting opportunity for our academic staff to co-create their upskilling and career development.
