Thinking about creating a new social media account?
At Federation University, new social media accounts aren’t created by individual departments or programs as a default option. Social channels require ongoing care, regular content, and active moderation. They need to be monitored daily (or close to it), and they only work well when there is enough time and resourcing to keep them current, safe, and aligned with the University’s brand. Because of this, any request for a new social media account must go through a formal process.
If your area believes a new account is necessary, the first step is to meet with the Social Media team. We’ll talk through your goals, audience, capacity, and whether there may be more effective ways to reach your community using existing University channels. After this discussion, teams are required to submit a business case outlining the staff time and resources available to manage the page, before any new account can be approved or created.
To request a meeting or start a conversation, please submit a portal request.
