Sichuan Scholarships

The Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Employment has 15 new scholarships for Victorians to undertake studies in Sichuan Province (P.R. China) in 2015/2016. These scholarships were offered by the Sichuan Department of Education during an April 2015 visit to Victoria, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in Education between Victoria and Sichuan in June 2014.
Value
Two types of scholarships are on offer:
- 10 Exchange Scholarships (1 year exchange program, RMB 10,000 per year).
- 5 Undergraduate Degree Scholarships (4 years Bachelor studies, RMB 20,000 per year)
The scholarships cover tuition, accommodation, insurance and basic living expenses.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Sichuan Provincial Government Scholarship the following criteria must be met:
- Be a resident of Victoria.
- Undergraduate studies must be undertaken at a higher education institutions in Sichuan Province which has been approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education. For the list of approved institutions, see: http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua/upload/file/20140428/20140428115448_7896.pdf
Please note:
- Applicants wishing to use the exchange scholarships to undertake Chinese language study are required to do so at Xihua University. This Chinese language program at Xihua University includes Chinese language and cultural classes and activities. For more information on this program, see the brochures below.
- Applicants wishing to undertake studies in areas other than language studies e.g. Chinese medicine may apply to any of the approved institutions.
