Song instructions
Applicants may choose a song to perform. Selection requirements apply to your selection:
Choose songs from musicals*
*Songs from musicals that were created featuring popular recording artists (e.g. ABBA, Queen, Dusty Springfield) are not suitable for auditions.
Your song must be memorised and performed with piano accompaniment.
For the first round video audition, backing tracks are permitted but should be piano tracks only (not full band or orchestral). Having a live accompanist play for your video audition is permitted, but they should not be seen on screen.
If asked to attend a call-back audition in person, please bring your backing track AND the sheet music of your song marked with any cuts or revisions. An accompanist will be provided at the call-back auditions. You cannot bring your own accompanist to your call-back audition.
The song should not exceed two minutes.
Please note: applicants may be asked to undertake a short interview after the audition. If required, we will contact you to arrange this.
Step 3
Create a short video of yourself performing your monologue and/or song choices.
Note: The footage can be simply created using a smartphone, iPad or personal camera. The video production quality does not have to be of a professional standard - keep it simple.
Step 4
Upload your video to our Audition portal by the closing date.
Step 5
Workshop Callbacks: if you are successful in your first round audition, you will be invited to a workshop call back in early December.
Audition feedback
Due to the large number of applicants we see, we regret that we are not able to give feedback about your individual application. There is a far greater number of applicants than we have places available, so many high-quality applicants are disappointed each year.
