Workday is coming to Federation

9 March 2023

As part of the March update our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Bentley, announced that the University has embarked on a journey to enhance our employee experience by transforming the way we manage our people and finances, powered by the platform Workday.

What does this mean to you?

For staff, Workday means self-service activities are made easier, and there will be less time spent on manual processes and forms.

For our leaders, it means mechanisms and tools to access reliable real-time data to support effective decision-making and accountable leadership.

By replacing our disconnected, ageing legacy systems with this best-in-class modern platform, we will gain the flexibility we need to respond to the future workplace needs. All in one place, at any time, from anywhere.

When will it happen?

We are looking forward to Workday becoming an integral part of our new way of working by next year.

We will start by using Workday for people-related functions, including:

  • to update personal information, view payslips, submit leave or timesheets,
and find people in the organisation
  • along with recruiting for our teams, documenting performance goals and development planning, and completing training activities.

Our employee experience will be further enhanced the following year upon activating our Workday finance management modules.

While this journey is still in its infancy, on behalf of our University community, Professor Bentley extended his thanks to the entire team working diligently to see this program through.

What’s next?

The team will be reaching out to staff across all portfolios and business areas throughout the program to assist with preparations: both to ensure we design a solution that best suits our needs, and to prepare us for this transition.  There will be many opportunities, and staff were encouraged to become involved where they can to help shape our digital future.

Stay tuned for more information about our exciting Workday transformation and what it means for you.
