Stories from Russia
By Anton Chekhov, adapted by Ross Hall
Directed by Ross Hall
Courthouse Theatre
SMB Campus
The great nineteenth century Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov, was during his lifetime, best known for the virtuosity of his prose short stories. Hauntingly evocative, brilliantly comic, unflinchingly honest, with beautiful and finely drawn characters, these stories present a passing moment in Russian life. Adapted from a selection of the originals and performed by Federation University’s Second Year students, Cyprinidae also brings into theatrical life what lies at the heart of the master’s work: a sweeping, breathing vision of a fading world.
