Transforming the way we manage our people and finances

29 May 2023

Our current systems were considered modern applications when they were developed  in the 1980s and ‘90s, now 20 to 30 years ago.  While some things are commonly considered as getting better with age—like fine wine, cheese or art—not so our ageing, disconnected legacy processes and systems, which are increasingly time-consuming and risk-prone.

Enhancing our employee experience by transforming the way we manage our people and finances, powered by Workday, eliminates the need for multiple systems, reducing the time and effort required to complete certain tasks – reflecting our commitment to putting our people first, while reinforcing our shift to a digital-first approach.

I am pleased to report that the design and configuration stages, to ensure Workday best meets our needs, are progressing well.  Upon sign-off, we will shift our focus to thoroughly testing the system.  I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication.  Your contributions are invaluable in helping shape a better system and processes for Federation University.

I am also pleased to share that the first meeting of the Change Agents Network took place at the beginning of May.  Made up of 50 ambassadors from across the University and carefully selected for their proximity and relationship with each area.  Change agents will serve as a link between the project team and people in their areas, sharing questions and feedback with the project team and communicating the latest project updates, news, and points of interest with their peers. More details about the change agents in your area soon.

Thank you for your continued support in helping ensure a smooth transition and making the implementation of Workday a success.  We are confident that a high-quality solution simplifying processes, embedding workflows, and activating some functionality new to Federation will be delivered.

If you would like to share feedback or request more information, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or the workday@federation.edu.au team.
