Why the Federation Advantage program is important to me

Karthy - 20 July 2023

Federation Advantage has truly been an eye-opening experience for me. I decided to join this program to challenge myself with activities in addition to my course work which provides me with both a more enriching student experience and of course meeting like-minded people.

I really enjoy the amount of various development opportunities that are offered as part of the program both on and off campus. Being part of this makes me aware of how important this is to understand and socialise as a community, the opportunity to volunteer prepares us for the corporate world in the future and make the most of my experience as an international student studying in Australia.

My favourite activities so far within the program have included:

  • Hosting my first Diwali celebration at the LLC
  • Participating in a photo shoot with other international students
  • Creating posters for the Sri Lankan New Year Festival

These opportunities have enhanced my ability to gain valuable knowledge outside a classroom setting and taking up the Federation Advantage program eased me into expanding my love for learning. I am currently sitting at the silver level, and I am now working my way towards the gold level, which will require me to undertake a community project.

I feel privileged that the University offers such a wonderful program for students to partake in.

The Federation Advantage program recognises the co-curricular activities and achievements of students in addition to their studies. It provides students an opportunity to connect with volunteer and development events on campus and in the wider community whilst being rewarded by the University in various stages.
