English language requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum English Language Requirements for entry into a Federation University Australia program. The English Language Requirement for general programs, such as business, IT and general science, is Academic IELTS Overall score of 6.0, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent. Some programs will require higher scores - refer to our Course Finder for more information.

Applicants need to provide one of the below forms of evidence to demonstrate their English language proficiency.

English tests

English test results must be valid prior to commencement date at FedUni. Every student will be assessed individually, and packaging the main program with an English and Academic Preparation program will be considered.

FedUni also accepts Occupational English Test (OET) results with "B" in all bands, for entry into Nursing and Health Science programs only. OET results are not accepted for programs in other fields.

Pathways to study

Students who do not meet the English Language Requirements for their program of choice may be eligible to study one of our English and Academic Preparation (EAP) programs in order to improve their English skills to the required level. Other qualifications

We can also accept the following academic qualifications as meeting our general English Language requirements if the applicant does not have a valid English test result. All qualifications must have been undertaken no more than 2 years prior to enrolment at FedUni.
