Gender Equality Act

Staff experience survey - Diversity, inclusion and gender equality

About the staff experience survey

Federation University is conducting a staff experience survey on diversity, inclusion and gender equality.

This survey will open on Tuesday, 17 August 2021 and will run for two weeks, closing at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, 31 August 2021.

Federation University is committed to taking positive action to promote diversity, inclusion and gender equity. We are seeking input on your experiences to help us identify and address barriers to equality in our workplace.

Victorian universities are participating in this survey as part of our obligations under the Gender Equality Act 2020 (Victoria). The Act is designed to support identification and elimination of systemic causes of gender inequality and recognises that inequality may be compounded by other forms of disadvantage or discrimination.

The main results of this survey will be shared with our staff and will help inform our Action Plan under the Gender Equality Act. Survey findings will also frame areas for further consultation including focus groups and stakeholder meetings over the coming months.

The survey is anonymous, and responses are confidential. Survey responses will be analysed by the Voice Project, an independent third-party engaged to administer the survey and protect the privacy of our staff.

The survey contains demographic questions that will be used to analyse responses across different groups within Federation University. The Voice Project will only report on responses by work area where there are more than 10 people in any group.

The data collected will only be used for the purpose of developing diversity and inclusion initiatives to support a culture of inclusion at Federation University.

If you have any questions regarding your privacy or how the survey is being administered, please contact the Voice Project's Aaron Silvestro or phone 02 8875 2811.

Supports for staff

Some of the questions in this survey relate to topics such as discrimination, harassment, bullying and family violence. Your safety and well-being is our priority. If any of these areas are concerning for you, support is available from any of the following services. These contact numbers will also appear at the end of the survey.
