Programs
Awards and statements can only be issued for programs/courses listed on Schedules 5.1, 5.1.1 and relevant Academic Board registers. Schedules can only be amended by Council.

New Programs (HE) | The approval process for new program proposals consists of seven stages. Each stage should normally be completed prior to proceeding the next stage. The stages are as follows:
The Faculty Board must approve any proposal prior to it being submitted for consideration. Once the new program has been ratified it can be added to Schedule 5.1. |

Extending the Scope - Adding Qualifications or Accredited Programs (VET) | This approval process is only for nationally recognised training as listed on the http://training.gov.au/ website. Each step should normally be completed prior to proceeding the next step. The steps are as follows:
Upon notification by ASQA that the Scope has been updated, a listing of VET qualifications that have been added to the Scope of Registration is forwarded to the Chair of Academic Board and the Vice-Chancellor for approval. This listing is sent to Academic Board and Council for approval. Once the new program has been approved it can be added to Schedule 5.1. | Deputy Vice-Chancellor

New Programs (Higher Degrees) | The Research Committee forwards new proposals to Academic Board for approval, which are then forwarded to Council for final approval. | Chair Research Committee | Council |
Discontinued Programs (HE) | The Executive Dean of Faculty must sign off on any proposed discontinuation of program, which must be approved by the Faculty Board. | Executive Dean of Faculty | Council |
Removal from the Scope - Removing Qualifications or Accredited Programs (VET) | The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is required to sign off on the request by the Faculty to remove any qualifications from the University's Scope of Registration. This request must be approved by the Faculty Board. This listing is sent to Academic Board and Council for approval. From Academic Board the proposal would be sent to Council with a recommendation for approval. Final approval for the discontinuation of a program is received from Council. Program Reviews | Review documentation is prepared by Faculty for approval at Faculty Board. The documentation is considered at Curriculum Committee and when approved a review panel is established to undertake the review.

Courses
Student Administration has the current listing of all courses/units offered at the University. Faculties are responsible for notifying Student Administration of any amendments.

Extending the Scope - Adding Qualifications or Accredited Courses (VET) | Individual units from a training package are able to be added to the Scope of Registration.
Upon notification by ASQA that the Scope has been updated, a listing of VET units that have been added to the Scope of Registration is forwarded to the Chair of Academic Board and the Vice-Chancellor for approval. Non-accredited programs
Non-accredited programs are programs offered by Federation University Australia where upon completion the student does not receive a sealed award; the programs are not listed on Schedule 5.1 and are not eligible for credit transfer or CRICOS registration.

Skills Sets | Applications for Skill Sets must be endorsed by the Executive Dean of Faculty and the Faculty Board prior to submission to the Curriculum Committee for approval. Following approval by Curriculum Committee the Application to Change RTO Scope of Registration form to be forwarded to ASQA for processing. Academic Board gives final approval for the Skill Sets Register to be amended.
