The issuing of awards is regulated by Statute 5.6 – Admission to and Granting of Academic Awards. The signatures of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor are required for all higher education awards. The signatures required for TAFE awards vary according to the level of the award and are listed on the Schedule of Certificates – TAFE.

|Higher Degree Research Awards|| |
Academic Board approved delegation of its responsibilities and powers in relation to research higher degrees candidature matters, to the Chair of Academic Board. The Chair's decisions are based on advice from the Research Higher Degrees Committee.
Academic Board approved delegation of its responsibilities and powers in relation to research higher degrees candidature matters, to the Chair of Academic Board, provided that all decisions of the Chair are based on the approval of the Research Higher Degrees Sub-Committee and the Chair of Research Committee.

|Posthumous Award|| A written application for a posthumous award is submitted to Academic Board by the relevant Executive Dean. |
Where the application involves an incomplete award, the Chair of Academic Board establishes an ad hoc committee to consider the application and make a recommendation to Academic Board.
The Board recommends to Council on posthumous awards.
If it is determined that a posthumous award is not appropriate or recommended, the Board may recommend to the Vice-Chancellor that a 'Certificate of Acheivement' be forwarded to the student's next of kin.

|Reissue of Awards|| Listings for the re-issuing of sealed awards for VET and HE are sent through Academic Services for authorisation by the Chair of Academic Board and the Chancellor. |
The re-issuing of unsealed awards for VET is confirmed and authorised through Student Administration.

|Revocation of Awards|| Faculties are responsible for investigating, providing evidence and making a recommendation to Academic Board for the revocation of an award. |
Academic Board must report the details of the revocation to the Council together with a recommendation for the consideration of the Council.
Unsealed awards and statements can be revoked by Academic Board without Council approval.

|University Medal|| Academic Board has responsibility for managing the nomination and selection process through the University Medal Committee. This Committee is comprised of members of Academic Board Executive Committee.
