Biography

Dr Mathew O’Grady is a senior lecturer in exercise and sports science, specialising in strength and conditioning for elite and youth athletes. He lectures in biomechanics and exercise prescription for both the general population and high-performance athletes.

Mathew’s PhD project investigated how a conditioning activity could be manipulated to influence post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE). He has previously published research in numerous sports, including basketball, cycling, lacrosse and football, as well as general strength and power development for all sports. His current projects investigate effective testing protocols throughout the ACL rehabilitation process, as well as game and constraint-based approaches for long-term strength and conditioning development in youth athletes.

Mathew is a level 2 associate strength and conditioning coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA). Previously, he worked as a strength and conditioning coach at the North Ballarat Roosters (VFL) and is currently coordinating the strength and conditioning program at the WestVic Academy of Sport.
