AMSI Optimise is an annual research training event that aims to strengthen mathematical optimisation research engagement and its applications across industry. Optimisation has been recognised on the Federal Government level as the priority research direction aiming at improving the performance of the Australian economy. AMSI Optimise was organised under the auspices of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) and was managed by the Standing Committee, which involves representatives of the main national optimisation centres, including MAXIMA (Monash University), CIAO (Federation University Australia), CARMA (University of Newcastle), RMITOpt (RMIT University) as well as groups from UniSA, University of Melbourne and others.
Participants from Australia included:
- Prof Geoff Prince, AMSI Director
- Prof Kate Smith-Miles, President of the Australian Mathematical Society
- Professor Peter Taylor, Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical & Statistical Frontiers
There was a wide representation of universities and research centres as well as Australian businesses, including Biarri, Reserve Bank of Australia, Defence Science and Technology Group, Country Fire Association, Centre for Disaster Management and Public Safety, Victoria Police, CSIRO Data61.
