About the Science and Engineering Challenge

All the activities which form part of The Challenge are designed to encourage team-work, exploration, experimentation, and above all, engagement with the skills and thought processes used by scientists and engineers in their work.

Participating schools bring between 24 and 32 Year 10 students to the Challenge. Teams of three to four students are allocated to each of the eight activities and the competition begins….. points are awarded … tallied at the end of the day ….  and a winning school announced.

Each activity runs for either a half or full-day meaning that students have the rare opportunity to become fully engrossed in their project. The results are astounding - we see enthusiasm and engagement at levels only dreamt of in most settings.
