What is the LANTITE?
The Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) is designed to assess personal literacy and numeracy skills to ensure teachers are well equipped to meet the demands of teaching.
Federation University Australia does not design, administer, or complete registration for LANTITE. Students are required to register with ACER. Information on preparing for the test and associated costs are also provided on the ACER website
If you have special considerations for testing conditions, you must lodge an application to directly to ACER.
Do I need to do LANTITE?
At Federation University Australia, LANTITE is a compulsory requirement of your course. It is also a requirement for teacher registration. The Department of Education and Training has a site for frequently asked questions.
When should I attempt the test?
It is recommended that you sit the LANTITE test after completing the subject. This will provide you with the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the test and the concepts associated with LANTITE and access the School support.
What will happen if I do not sit the test?
If you do not pass the LANTITE you will not be eligible to complete your final placement. This will delay your graduation date.
What will happen if I do not achieve the standard on my first or second attempt?
You will be contacted by the University and advised of the support services available. At this stage, you will be required to show why you should be allowed to attempt the LANTITE a third time.
I am studying to work overseas in the education sector but will not seek teacher registration. Do I need to complete LANTITE?
All students enrolled in an Initial Teacher Education program are required to sit and pass the LANTITE.
