Biography
After growing up and completing school in Gippsland, Russell initially completed a B.Sc (Hons) in Physiology at the University of Melbourne, worked as a research assistant at Latrobe University, and then as a tutor in Physiology at Melbourne University. Finding that he enjoyed teaching more than research, Russell completed a DipEd and started teaching. His first school was Epping HS where he found himself mainly teaching Maths. Russell then transferred back to Gippsland into a Maths teaching position. In the early nineties he completed a B.App.Sci degree (Maths/IT) at GIAE/Monash by distance education. Russell retired in 2016 after 32 years of teaching mainly Mathematics and Chemistry. Russell then started working at Federation University as a sessional tutor/marker teaching Mathematics and Statistics in the School of Science, Psychology and Sport and in the School of Engineering, IT and Physical Science. He took up his current position in 2022.
