Master of Education - University of Ballarat - 2006

Higher Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) – Monash Teachers College - 1971

Margaret joined the university in 2015 as the Project Coordinator, Bachelor of Education Pathways to Success developing a system to provide intensive support for participating students, who were from low SES backgrounds, to succeed in their academic studies.

Since 2016 Margaret has coordinated the development of applications for accreditation by the Victorian Institute of Teaching for all undergraduate and graduate Initial Teacher Education programs offered by the School of Education. She has also coordinated Early Childhood Education teacher qualification applications for approval by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority.

Margaret had previously worked for Monash University as a School University Liaison Officer with a focus on improving the quality and quantum of school-university partnership activity, to increase the number of students in low SES communities aspiring to, and participating in, higher education in the Central Highlands Wimmera Region.

For over 25 years prior to this, Margaret worked in the community education sector and the Department of Education and Training, managing diverse federal and state funded projects. Many were designed to broaden post compulsory school options for senior secondary students and to provide professional learning opportunities for teachers to improve student learning outcomes. To succeed, many projects required the development of partnerships between diverse education and industry sectors. Successful projects, led by Margaret in these roles, include the Ballarat Industry Education Network Pilot Project, the Ballarat Cluster Part-time Traineeships in the VCE Pilot Project, Full Service Schools Program for Students at Risk, the VET in Schools Cluster Feasibility Study and Implementation of Program, Youth Options Guarantee Project and the six year-long Australian Government Quality Teacher Project.
