Centre for Gippsland Studies
The Centre for Gippsland Studies is a research centre committed to understanding the past, present and future of the Gippsland region.
We conduct high quality, community-based research in a collaborative fashion. We provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between community and academic researchers. We explore the experience of other regions in Australia and internationally.
Building on over 21 years of community engagement, our research efforts are underpinned by the Centre for Gippsland Studies Library collection, and a growing cohort of research students studying Gippsland-related topics.
Our current Director, Professor Erik Eklund, is one of Australia’s foremost regional historians, with extensive experience living in and researching regional Australia as well as international networks with colleagues in Europe, the UK, and North America.
