Hello. Campaign

Description

The ‘Hello.' campaign, was developed to encourage people to simply say ‘hello’ to each other by the distribution of a range of campaign materials, social media and coffee pop-ups in local cafes.

The purpose of the project was to increase awareness and understanding of mental health in the Latrobe Valley community. In line with the Charter the project was co-designed by the community for the community.

The primary objective was to develop a campaign to increase awareness that social connection improves mental wellbeing.

Evaluation

The results of the evaluation showed a wide reach and exposure of the campaign in the Latrobe Valley with well-attended events, positive local media reporting and extensive social media reach.

Following facilitated, focused group discussion conducted by the CERC (formerly CEU) team, the facilitator concluded:

"The response to the program was overwhelmingly positive and was seen as making a real difference in the local community. The program has clearly generated momentum among dedicated mental health workers and volunteers and is likely to present ongoing community benefits."

Following its success, the 'Hello.' campaign has received further funding, with the Latrobe Health Assembly managing the campaign.
