(Research and Innovation)

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) is responsible for leading the strategic research direction and overall research quality and performance of the University.

Professor Chris Hutchison commenced on 1 March 2019.

Professor Hutchison holds a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences (University of Sussex) and a PhD in Biochemistry (University of London). He has a strong international research track record in biomedical sciences, ageing and health, with competitive grant income awarded from an impressive range of national and international government and philanthropic research agencies. Professor Hutchison is an experienced supervisor of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students and also holds a number of patents and licenses on his inventions and materials.

Graduate Research School

Professor Fadi Charchar - Dean of Graduate Studies

Professor Charchar is the head of the L. E. W. Carty Cardiovascular Genomics laboratory and holds the Robert HT Smith Chair in Cardiovascular Genomics at Federation University Australia. Fadi's research focuses on the molecular genetics of cardiovascular disease.

The role of the Graduate Research School is to support Higher Degree by Research programs across the university and to develop and implement policies relating to Higher Degrees by Research.

Research Services

The role of Research Services is to facilitate research through the provision of support services to the wider University community, to ensure that research is conducted in an ethical and responsible manner, and to develop and implement policies relating to research and research training.

Ms Sharon Kitt - Director, Research Services

Sharon Kitt is responsible for the administration of research administration across FedUni. The remit of the Director includes:

  • research funding - pre and post award
  • research ethics for human and animals
  • research integrity
  • research performance reporting including ERA and E&I
  • research policies and procedures
  • research website and social media
  • leadership of the Research Services team
