Early warning for asthma sufferers

The FedUni Gippsland Campus is one of eight sites in Victoria chosen as part of a sophisticated thunderstorm asthma monitoring system, ahead of a Bureau of Meteorology forecast of a possible thunderstorm asthma event this Spring. The early warning system has been rolled out in Victoria following a freak weather event last year that caused fatal climatic conditions for asthma sufferers. The University’s Applied Biomedical and Sciences department will continue to monitor pollen activity until the end of December during the Victorian grass pollen season.
