New appointments bring wealth of experience

Andrew Evans, General Manager (Academic) is the first of the new leadership group to arrive at FedUni

The University has announced a number of senior appointments to lead the University through the next exciting phase of its transformation. The five new Deans of Schools, General Manager (Academic) and Pro Vice-Chancellor, International have been recruited from other leading Universities around the globe, including Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. They will play an important role advancing the University’s Strategic Plan 2018-2022 (Transforming Lives and Enhancing Communities).


Influenza expert draws crowd

A public lecture at the Gippsland Campus by Dr Alan Hampson, an adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University, help shed some light on why most of us are unaware of the dangers of influenza, and where research may take us in future.

The former Deputy Director of the Melbourne World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on influenza, told his audience that a future pandemic with a severity and impact similar to that of 1918 is a distinct possibility.

University Alumni honoured at annual award event

Professor Helen Bartlett, Vice-Chancellor and Dr Paul Hemming AO, Chancellor with the 2018 Alumni Award recipients and their representatives

Philanthropist Tim Diamond and Children’s author Rachel Flynn have been named the University’s Alumnus and Alumna of the Year. They are two of seven outstanding alumni members honoured at the 2018 Alumni of the Year Awards (with two awards made posthumously).

Up to 103,000 successful students have graduated from the university since our foundation in the 1870s, including 25,000 alumni from 87 different countries.

Governor visits FedUni

The Governor of Victoria and the Vice-Chancellor joined secondary school students at the Ballarat Tech School for a lesson in robotics

The Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Linda Dessau AC experienced the diversity of FedUni courses, pathways and teaching locations during a visit hosted by the City of Ballarat.

The Governor witnessed modern virtual reality labs and robotics in action at the Ballarat Tech School, SMB Campus, before enjoying an impromptu performance by students studying at the FedUni Arts Academy, located in the historical Camp Street precinct.

Golden Key Chapter wins key award

2018 FedUni GK Leadership team with Professor Helen Bartlett, Vice-Chancellor and Mr Steve Davies, Deputy Chancellor

As a part of their application, the committee had to have three or more years of consecutive gold standing, and highlight five key events undertaken in that period. In their report, they were required to describe how the events impacted upon the three pillars of the organisation - Service, Academics and Leadership.

Events profiled included the annual New Members Reception; attendance of five Committee members at the Asia Pacific Summit which saw the committee run a very well attended workshop on goal setting; and fundraising for Federation University Australia's Foundation, amongst others.
