Membership

Find out how to join our library to access our resources and spaces.

Library membership is automatic for all Federation University students and staff. Your Federation ID card is your library card.

If you are not a current student or staff member, you can sign up for a membership with Federation Library to use our collections and spaces. Choose your membership type below to join today.

Just because you've left our University doesn't mean you lose the valuable resources of the University Library. Alumni Library membership enables you to access selected electronic resources and borrow library items.

Library membership is free for 12 months, from January to December.

Alumni members can apply for and renew Library membership online through myAlumni Centre by clicking on the Alumni Library membership tile and following the prompts.

For further information about Library membership, download the Federation Alumni Library Membership guide (pdf, 318kb).

More information can be found on the Federation Alumni web page.

Our community borrower memberships enable people who are not Federation University staff or students, or eligible for membership through the reciprocal borrowing schemes, to borrow from Federation Library.

To register, please complete the Community borrower registration form (pdf, 83kb) and present to the staff at the InfoPoint.

Please note that membership does not include access to the internet or other electronic resources.

You can access a range of physical resources held at our campus libraries. Use QuickSearch to search for physical resources, open access journal articles and Federation University research of interest.

There are three schemes that allow staff and students from other Australian tertiary institutions to borrow from the Federation University Library free of change.

The schemes are:

  • CAVAL Reciprocal Borrowing Program (Victorian institutions)
  • University Libraries of Australia and New Zealand (ULANZ) (Australia and New Zealand institutions)
  • TAFE National Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme (TAFE NRBS)

Membership through these schemes does not allow access to the internet or other electronic resources.

Students enrolled via Open Universities Australia are not eligible for borrowing. To borrow from our collection they will need to take out a community borrower membership.
