ISBN, ISSN and DOI allocations
ISBN and ISSN
The Library is responsible for issuing ISBNs (International Standard Book Number) for Federation University Australia publications. To obtain an ISBN please email the Cataloguing staff with details of the publication including the title, date and author. The Library will record the details and issue you with an ISBN. If you require Cataloguing-In-Publication, it can be requested from the National Library of Australia.
A copy of any Federation University Australia publication (print and electronic versions) must be deposited with the National Library of Australia and the State Library of Victoria. Please read about your legal obligations under Commonwealth and State Legal Deposit legislation.
Should you require an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) for a new journal you must apply to the National Library of Australia.
A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a persistent and unique identifier of a digital object. The use of DOIs enables the easy permanent identification and citation of a research output.
The Library can provide you with a DOI for research datasets and grey literature (conference papers, book chapters, theses) through the ANDS (Australian National Data Service) Cite My Data service.
To find out whether your research output is eligible, our Business Rules set out the process for applying for a Federation University Australia DOI.
