Biography

Dr Grant Meredith received his Bachelor of Information Technology (with Distinction), Bachelor of Computing (Honours) and Ph.D. degrees from Federation University (FedUni). Previous to working at the University he had various careers ranging from sales, security and through to multimedia development. Grant started his academic career by teaching multimedia-based courses and developing programs at a vocational level at the School of Mines campus. While studying his Honours degree in 2005 Grant started working as a sessional staff member teaching and tutoring IT courses. Shortly after that he started working full at the School of Information Technology & Mathematical Sciences. These initial courses included the likes of: Introduction to Multimedia; Web-development; Interactive Design; and Web-based Instructional Design.

While working at the University Grant has filled several leadership roles within his associated Schools/Faculty including: IT Discipline Coordinator; IT First year/Transition Coordinator; various Program Coordinator roles as an Associate Dean (Student Retention & Success) for four years and Partner Academic Lead (IT) for 3 years. Currently Grant is the Associate Dean (FedUni Information Engineering Institute) and Partner Academic Lead (IT). Grant has supervised a range of PhD, Honour and Graduate Certificate students and assisted many final year Capstone students teams over the years to successful outcomes. He has taught frequently in China since 2012 and has also presented there on topics of research and learning & teaching. Currently Grant leads the teachin team at the FedUn Information Engineering Institute based in Hebei, China.  Grant has a passion for teaching which has lead him to being named numerous times in the UniJobs list of lecturers in Australia. Of late Grant has been teaching in the areas of: Web Design and the User Experience. He is a multi-disciplinary researcher and leads the Technologies for Empowering People for Participation in Society (TEPPS) programme aims to enable the lives of people the world over through the radical design of software and hardware solutions. He researches in the areas of assertive technologies, ethics/equality, learning & teaching and emerging technologies.
