Biography
Julia has worked in primary schools as classroom teacher, specialist Visual Art teacher and as a Leading Teacher. Julia completed her Master of Education degree in 2015 and commenced employment at Federation University in 2020. Julia is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate of Education Research at Deakin University. Julia works within the Professional Experience area to support Education students with completing their placements and associated professional development and learning opportunities.
Areas of expertise
Julia has recent teaching experience in public primary schools. Her expertise is in school leadership models, leadership, data collection and analysis and project-based learning.
Research interests
Julia is currently undertaking research which examines Australian produced and published leveled text series, and how they may perpetuate a White narrative. Her research seeks to reveal whether these books provide their audience with accurate representations of race and culture or if there are underlying misrepresentations and/or negative relationships between characterisation and race.
