Study overseas

Immerse yourself in a different environment and grow your cultural awareness through a study abroad or exchange program. You could even receive credit towards your degree.

You’re curious. Keen to travel, explore the world – perhaps learn a new language. But you don’t want to take time off uni. The solution? Study overseas. If you’re interested in an extended stay, complete a semester (or two) at one of our international partner institutions. If a short trip is more your style, join a study tour during your summer or winter break.

Study options

Exchange program
You can study at one of our partner universities for one or two semesters. You’ll keep paying tuition and student activity fees to Federation (not to the partner university).
Study abroad program
If you’d like to study at a university that isn’t part of our exchange program, you must take leave from your Federation course and pay tuition fees directly to the overseas institution. You can apply for credit when you return.
Short-term study programs
Short-term programs range from two to ten weeks, and most take place during semester breaks. Some are externally funded and count towards your degree.
Overseas placement opportunities
If your course includes placement units, you may be able to do some or all of these overseas. Please contact your course coordinator or student admin staff to see if this is an option.

The world is your (study) oyster. Where do you see yourself?

How to apply

The New Colombo Plan scholarship has been crucial in alleviating any financial concerns during my stay, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the rich tapestry of Nepali life – from experimenting with local cuisine to delving into the vibrant culture.  "
