ICSL signs Memorandum of Understanding with Troyes University of Technology - UTT, France

Posted: Friday 19 September 2014

The Internet Commerce Security Laboratory (ICSL) which is located in the Centre for Informatics and Applied Optimization at Mt Helen Campus has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Troyes University of Technology - UTT, to work collaboratively on Open Source Intelligence.  This will provide opportunities for ICSL to expand its international collaborations in areas of social media analysis, behavioural profiling, and the detection of malicious use of services.

"This collaboration has been a very important one for ICSL, having already generated a number of interesting results.  We hope that this MOU will allow us to build upon this platform, extending our previous findings." Dr Robert Layton, Research Fellow at ICSL, said. "To date we have analysed linking malicious twitter profiles together, showing that while there are many spam accounts, there are only a handful of actual operators that run them."

Dr Babiga Birregah, Assistant-Professor at UTT said "The combination of both our two expertises has given new insights for the research field of OSINT (Open-source intelligence).  Beyond the first results of this collaboration, our hope is to build a large platform which includes technical means, exchange of students and researchers."
