Apply through VTAC
You are advised to apply through VTAC if one of the following categories describes you:
- Currently studying Year 12 and applying for courses listed in the current VTAC Guide
- Not currently studying Year 12 and applying to study with more than one institution
- International students studying the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in the year of application
- Students studying Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) or the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Victoria
- Currently studying the interstate equivalent to VCE.
ALL mid-year applicants MUST apply directly.
Applications for all undergraduate, graduate entry teaching (GET), and selected full-time TAFE courses are made online through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC), where you may indicate up to 8 course preferences. To view available courses, please check the VTAC Guide .
We recommend that you take advantage of the 8-preference system and list your 8 courses in order of preference, as this gives you a greater chance of securing a place. It is easier to refuse an offer because you received your preferred place than to start looking for alternatives when the selection process is over. You can also change your preferences between offer rounds if you change your mind.

Application assessment process
An application is assessed on the basis of your formal qualifications, background or experience, and whether you meet specific requirements for the program. It is a good idea to check the program requirements in Course Finder before commencing your application. Quotas are usually set for each program, so the level of demand for certain programs may have some influence on whether you are offered a place.
Year 12 applicants
Current Year 12 students and applicants applying for more than one institution must apply through the VTAC website.
Current Year 12 students and applicants who have completed Year 12 within the previous two years (and have not undertaken higher education or VET studies) must meet Year 12 prerequisite entry requirements (including minimum study scores).
Guaranteed ATARs apply to some programs. Browse our guaranteed entry programs and the guaranteed ATAR required, and make an informed decision when choosing what to study.
Current Year 12 students living in regional and rural areas may also be eligible for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).
Non-Year 12 applicants
Non-Year 12 applicants (applicants who completed secondary education more than two years previously) should complete the VTAC Personal Statement, in addition to providing TAFE or higher education transcripts (if applicable). Selection may be based on Year 12 results if an applicant has not previously undertaken tertiary study. Relevant work / life experience may also be taken into consideration for some programs.
Master of Teaching applicants must hold a relevant bachelor degree.
We seek to provide equality of opportunity for all sectors of the community to participate in study at FedUni. The Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) provides an entry opportunity for students whose education may have been affected by short or long-term disadvantage.
