With a strong focus on employment-based training, Federation TAFE brings training in critical skills disciplines together with employers in a variety of industry sectors to have the trained workforce they require so they can thrive into the future.
Current year 12 students

Non-year 12 applicants
Most of our TAFE courses will allow you to apply directly using the TAFE Direct Application Form (pdf, 320kb). However, if the course you wish to apply for is listed in the VTAC Guide and you wish to apply to multiple institutions, then you will need to visit the VTAC website in order to apply. If you wish to apply to FedUni only, then you may apply using the TAFE Direct Application Form.
Applying for an apprenticeship or traineeship is different to applying for most other TAFE courses. Apprentices and trainees need to be employed within their trade before they can start their apprenticeship or traineeship course. When you commence your apprenticeship or traineeship you will sign a training agreement. This will start a process which will result in you and your employer being invited to complete an application and enrolment package. You will not need to complete an application form such as the ones referred to on this page.
Complete the Pre-training Review form (pdf, 950kb) after you have submitted your TAFE application form and bring it with you for your interview with the School. This form will assist in determining your suitability to enrol in the program that you have applied for.
Direct applications for TAFE course are now being accepted for commencement in the next available term. Closing dates may vary between courses /Schools depending on the scheduled commencement date for your chosen TAFE course. Please check our Course Finder for more information.
Applicants must meet the specific entry requirements stated in the VTAC Guide or in the program information contained within our Course Finder. In addition to you application, you must also make sure you complete any extra requirements such as:
- Attendance at an information session
- Portfolio presentation
- Entrance test.
To search and confirm your chosen TAFE program's entry requirements, refer to our Course Finder.
Working With Children Checks and Police Checks
If you receive an offer into a course which includes a placement component, you may be required to submit a Working With Children Check and/or Police Check prior to commencement of your study. Check your courses's entry requirements.
Should your application be successful, you will be asked to visit your campus to enrol. You must provide supporting documentation to determine eligibility into a government subsidised training place. This includes evidence to support citizenship/residency and proof of age.
To find out which documents you should bring with you to enrolment, refer to the Eligibility criteria page.
See if you qualify for the Victorian Training Guarantee.
