Federation backs free TAFE for more Victorians

Posted: Tuesday 31 January 2023

Federation TAFE welcomes recent significant changes to the Free TAFE initiative that makes it easier for more Victorians to get the skills for the job they want and help address critical skills shortages in regional areas.

Recent changes announced by the Victorian Department of Education and Training mean prospective students can enrol in a Free TAFE course no matter what previous TAFE or university qualifications they already hold.

Students are also now able to undertake multiple Free TAFE programs within the same career pathway – meaning they could complete a Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma within the same pathway – without paying tuition fees due to the ‘once-in-a-lifetime limit’ being removed for Free TAFE Priority Pathways.

There are 19 Free TAFE Pathway courses open for enrolment at Federation TAFE in 2023 within the areas of:

Additionally, other new courses and short courses have also been added to Free TAFE including the Agricultural Chemical Skill Set short course offered by Federation TAFE.

“Federation TAFE has a proven track record of providing great student outcomes and helping people get a step up in their chosen profession, and there’s never been a better time to consider upskilling or retraining for the job of your dreams. These changes to Free TAFE will also help address critical needs in the Ballarat and Wimmera region as identified in the Victorian Skills Plan.”
