Federation Alumni excelling at home and on the world stage

From community advocacy to excellence on the international stage, Federation University Australia’s alumni are being recognised for their distinguished contribution to their chosen fields. 

Seven leaders in health, sport, IT and education were honoured in Federation University’s 2022 Alumni Awards at a Ballarat ceremony on 27 October. 

The awards formally recognise the achievements of distinguished alumni of Federation and its predecessor institutions, with this month’s ceremony the first in-person event since 2019. 

The Ballarat recipients of the Federation University 2022 Alumni Awards are: 

  • Nikki Foy - Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Alumna of the Year  
  • Stephanie Mundy - Young Alumna of the Year   
  • Tim Shaw - Alumnus of the Year  
  • Dr Palaniappan Ramaanathan Chettiar - International Alumnus of the Year   
  • Arifin Fu - Distinguished Alumnus 
  • Sae Ra Germaine - Distinguished Alumna 
  • Dr Omaru Maruatona - Distinguished Alumnus
