Over 170 students to get a taste of life on campus in Horsham

Over 170 students will converge on Federation TAFE’s Wimmera Campus in Horsham today for a Student Services Expo and Welcome Day activities. 

Diploma of Nursing student Rebecca Ferluga will excitedly be attending the events as she enters her second year of study.  

Rebecca has moved into nursing looking for a new challenge after being a childhood educator, combining her passion for people, education and healthcare. 

The Expo will provide Rebecca and other students with information on important programs and initiatives to ensure they have a successful year in 2022, including: 

  • Careers and employability advice and guidance from the Skills and Jobs Centre 

  • Disability and Learning Access Unit (DLAU) 

  • Wimmera Aboriginal Education Centre Education Officer supports 

  • Federation Advantage, which involves rewards for volunteering 

  • Library services 

  • Scholarships and grants 

  • Counselling services  

  • TAFE Academic tutors 

  • Student advocacy. 

The campus will also host activities and games, including lawn games to allow students to get to know their peers in a friendly atmosphere and experience what life will be like on campus. 

Those attending will have the chance to try out a virtual harvester that allows users to experience crop harvesting in a 3D computer-generated environment. 

Students attending today’s events are undertaking a range of courses at TAFE including Early Childhood Education and Care, Health, Plumbing, Nursing, Automotive and Horticulture.
