Federation undergraduates more likely to get jobs

Posted: Wednesday 4 August 2021

Federation University Australia undergraduates are more likely to get a full-time job than those from any other Victorian university, according to the Good Universities Guide 2022 ratings that were released this week.

The guide, which rates universities across Australia each year, also rated Federation number one in Victoria for undergraduate student support and skills development, reflecting the University’s strength in supporting students to develop the key skills employers are looking for.

Federation was also ranked as the number one university in Australia for First Generation Student Enrolments.

Welcoming students who are the first member of their family to attend university and supporting them to succeed at their education and in life is a key priority for Federation.

As Victoria’s premier regional university, Federation has a close connection to our communities, with a focus on transforming lives and enhancing communities through education, creating jobs and driving economic growth in our regions.

The number one ranking in Australia for First Generation Student Enrolments reflects this, along with top rankings in Victoria around student support, social equity, skills and employment. This includes:

  • Number one in Victoria for Social Equity

  • Number one in Victoria for Skills Development (undergraduate)

  • Number one in Victoria for Student Support (undergraduate)

  • Number one in Victoria for Skills Development (postgraduate)

  • Number one in Victoria for Full Time Employment (undergraduate)

These results build on Federation’s performance in the prestigious Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2021, released in June, with the University ranked in the top 201-250 young universities in the world.

Quotes attributable to Federation University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Duncan Bentley

“As Victoria’s premier regional university, we work closely with local industry to understand exactly what they need and support our students to build the skills employers want – these outstanding results are a clear demonstration of that.”

“We are part of our regional communities and have a vital role to play in giving local students from a broad range of backgrounds, many the first in their family to attend university, the opportunity to fulfil their career aspirations and transform their lives.”
