Fed Uni gears up for online 'O Week'

Posted: Monday 20 July 2020

Mid-year orientation activities will virtually look a little different in 2020, with students logging on for a range of interactive programs and entertainment.

All new Federation University Australia and Federation TAFE students are invited to take part in online O Week activities between Monday 20 and Friday 24 July.

The activities aim to introduce students to the wide variety of campus clubs and to each other and will begin with live online performances from talented students from Ballarat, Berwick and Gippsland campuses.

Other virtual events include a fitness class, gaming competition, a trivia competition, social activities, and an introduction to the university’s many support services. There will also be prizes up for grabs for students who take part in the activities.

Ballarat Art Society will hold a ‘Sip and Draw’ event, while time management expert Josh Farr will run a Time and Priority Management Workshop to offer student tips on avoiding procrastination and achieving study and career goals.

Students can also join the university’s clubs, which range from FedUni Medieval Battle Club to the Fed Sport and Adventure Society. Other clubs include the IT Crowd, Arts Society and course-specific clubs.

Quotes attributable to Federation University Director Student Experience Greg Jakob:

“We are looking forward to welcoming new students embarking on the next step in their education at Federation University.

“While the format might be different from other years due to its online delivery, we have worked hard to ensure that students have access to a wide range of social and informational activities to help them settle in to university life.”
