Nursing degree to be delivered in east Gippsland

Posted: Monday 23 December 2019

Aspiring nurses from East Gippsland will have the opportunity to study closer to home as part of an initiative to grow the local nursing workforce.

Federation University Gippsland will deliver 10 additional Bachelor of Nursing places at Bairnsdale in 2020 in partnership with the Gippsland East University Study Hub and TAFE Gippsland.

Students will have a flexible study arrangement, blending online learning with blocks of on-campus learning at the hub, TAFE Gippsland Bairnsdale and the Monash School of Rural Health at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service.

They will get practical experience through clinical placements in East Gippsland, allowing them to form ties with the local community and workforce.

In 2020 the 10 places will be available to students who have completed a Diploma of Nursing and are entering the second year of the degree.

From 2021 the offering will increase to 20 places available for diploma students, direct entry and year 12 applicants through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).

To apply for 2020, phone Federation University on 1800 333 864. Applications are open until 1 March 2020.
