Fed Uni scholarships a hand up for students

Posted: Wednesday 1 May 2019

More than 25 Federation University Australia students will be able to continue their studies thanks to generous scholarships awarded to them.

Scholarships ranging in value from $1000 to $7000 have been awarded at a Foundation Scholarships presentation at the University’s Mt Helen Campus.

Five current Higher Education students received Foundation Scholarships ranging in value from $1000 to $7000. Scholarships included the Carol Lynette Grant Prowse Scholarship, the Powercor Scholarships and the Rotary District 9780 Scholarships.

Up to 23 Foundation TAFE Scholarships also were presented.

The Foundation Scholarships are presented to students who are experiencing personal, financial or medical hardship.

They were established in 2013 with the presentation of four scholarships. That number has risen rapidly and it is expected up to 100 scholarships will be presented through the course of this year.

Quotes attributable to Professor Helen Bartlett, Vice-Chancellor and President:

“Federation University has a strong commitment to assisting our students. Far too often we see intelligent and determined students dropping out because of financial pressure. This is a great loss to the student, the university and society as a whole.”

“Our Foundation Scholarships will provide much needed help, allowing our students to pursue their studies without stressing about finances.”

“We want our scholarship recipients to follow their passion and take every opportunity offered to them.”
